Overview

The PW210, P&WC’s new 1,000 shaft horsepower class engine, sets the stage for a new era of advanced helicopter engines to be certified, beginning in 2009. The PW210 will help shape a new generation of single and twin-engine helicopters setting new standards in fuel burn, power-to-weight ratio, environmental emissions and operating economics while maintaining P&WC’s reputation for high durability and reliability, the hallmark of dependability.

The PW210 will raise the bar on performance and operating economics by introducing an impressive menu of advanced technologies and leveraging technologies from P&WC’s latest engine families. By incorporating the latest advances in compressor design technology and turbine materials, the PW210 will set a new standard in power-to-weight ratio and fuel consumption for improved helicopter payload and range. Furthermore, the featured Full Authority Digital Engine Control (FADEC) will set a new standard in the ease of pilot operation and maintenance diagnostics.

Operators of the PW210 series engines will be supported by P&WC’s industry-leading global customer support. This includes over 30 P&WC-owned and designated service facilities around the world, more than 100 field support representatives on all major continents, a 24/7 Customer First Centre for rapid expert support, the most advanced diagnostic capabilities for this market and the largest pool of P&WC rental and exchange engines in the industry. P&WC’s helicopter engine support has also been consistently ranked No. 1 by operators in Pro Pilot magazine’s annual powerplant support survey.

Features-1

The PW210 engine incorporates the latest advanced technologies in the drive to exceed our customers’ expectations in performance, reliability, durability, fuel consumption and environmental friendliness. The 1,000 shaft horsepower class PW210 is simple in concept, with only five major rotating components and a modular design enabling easy maintenance. A two-stage centrifugal compressor driven by a single-stage turbine with an advanced technology reverse flow combustor power a free, two-stage power turbine. The power turbine, in turn, powers the output shaft through a front-mounted reduction gearbox. Combining the reduction and engine accessory gearbox contributes to the PW210’s compact design. The PW210’s control system features a Full Authority Digital Engine Control (FADEC) delivering a new standard in ease of operation, maintenance diagnostics and other control features.

Game-changing performance is the key to an exciting future for the PW210. Low fuel consumption, light weight, a compact architecture, low environmental emissions, minimum maintenance and low maintenance cost will contribute strongly to the success of a new generation of helicopters.
